SEQUENT III

 
This is a single point LPG gas injection system designed for engines with high horse power. Gas injection into diesel engines is not novel, in fact the original inventor of diesel engines – a German named Mr Rudolph Diesel – patented a process for gas fumagation in 1901. The particular innovation and distinct point of difference between Sequent III and other diesel gas systems, is its computer controlled Gas Management System that has the capability to inject LPG while monitoring at 10 times a second in order to adjust injection rates . This is the key to keeping the engine in tune with load demands and circumvents the known variability between engines and engine types. This engine ‘self adjusting’ factor is leading edge technology that we have developed and results in optimum performance for all engines.


This system is designed to make it simple for any diesel-shop fitter to install, without any complications in tuning or calibrating its operation. It’s simple to install, usually taking only 8 hours to fit, and results are achieved as soon as the diesel is in use. The only component in Sequent III that is not ‘off-the-shelf’ is the GMS computer system, which is designed and manufactured by Gas Tek. The ready commercial availablity of the components of the system also make it easy for worldwide supply.

 

 

 
BENEFITS OF THE SEQUENT III SYSTEM
 

Typically, a Sequent III system provides up to 20% more power and torque, provides up to a 20% reduction in fuel costs, increases range by up to 20% and reduces engine wear as it reduces the carbon build-up in the oil. It also clears the black plume from the exhaust fumes and reduces all other emissions. It can improve the emissions from a Euro 2 exhaust rating to 3 or 4 for any diesel installation.

 

The other key advantage of the Sequent III system is that it can be fitted to new diesel engines in an engine manufacturing assembly factory, or retrofitted to any mobile or stationery diesel engine. It has applications in all diesel operating fleets whether these are for road, rail, power generation, earthmoving, mining, industrial or shipping. IMPROVED DIESEL ECONOMY

The Sequent III allows LPG to be used at idle, substituting a percentage of diesel required for idle.

Over extended idle periods, such as in traffic, this substitution adds up to a significant diesel reduction. This reduction is on top of the usual economy benefits of diesel with LPG injection.

 

IMPROVED POWER DELIVERY

The Sequent III system recalculates the required LPG at a rate of ten times a second and responds instantly, giving the engine the exact levels that it needs for the best power and performance.

 

 

INCREASED LPG RANGE

The absolute accuracy of Sequent III guarantees LPG is only used when it is needed without wastage. Gas flow is shut off instantly and completely for gear changes, under brakes and when coasting downhill. With this level of control, LPG consumption is reduced by around 20% and in some cases more. The operating speed of the Sequent III system also means there is no wastage from response time lags as in older venturi systems.

 

 

AUTOMATIC SELF ADJUSTING

The Sequent III adjusts itself as you drive. It constantly adapts to the driving style. The system constantly adjusts to deliver performance or economy as the conditions require. This means that the engine system is tuned with 100% accuracy to deliver the best possible results all of the time.

 

 

INJECTION ACCURACY AND CONTROL

The Sequent III processor reads all sensors continuously and constantly adjusts gas flow. The injector responds in time for the next revolution of the crankshaft. This level of speed and accuracy ensures that only the correct amount of LPG is injected at precisely the right time. This level of accuracy and control allows the engine to operate at maximum efficiency under all operating conditions.

 

 

ENGINE PROTECTION

The Sequent III also offers unsurpassed engine protection. It constantly monitors engine coolant temperature and exhaust gas temperatures. In the event of an engine overheat, regardless of the cause, the system will either reduce or completely shut down gas flow. It will also shut down gas flow in the event of an engine over rev or over boost. The system will not switch on until engine temperature has reached 30 degrees C - this is to ensure LPG does not affect cold starting performance.

 

 

DRIVER INTERFACE

For mobile systems the system status is constantly indicated to the driver via a dash mounted LED panel. If any faults are logged the driver is immediately informed as the system shuts itself down. LPG tank level is also indicated.

 

 

ADVANCED DIAGNOSIS

The Sequent III constantly data logs the last 250 hours of operation. All sensor signals are recorded, as is each LPG tank refill. The system also logs, in real time, each time the vehicle ignition is cycled and each time Sequent III is turned on and off. This ensures faults are quickly detected and the driver alerted. This data also allows us to monitor actual driving conditions to check the system is delivering the best possible results for you.

 

 

DURABILITY AND RELIABILITY

The system has been designed to operate in mining, road transport and agricultural conditions. These same requirements are used for all light vehicle installations. The whole system, including the processor and wiring harness, can be submerged to 1.2 metres in water, and has been shockproofed to perform faultlessly in the toughest of operating conditions.
